How did Project ONE:27 begin?

"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultess is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." James 1:27

The founders of ONE:27, Seth Green and Aaron Batey had a vision. After working with other similar missions focused, youth trip organizations, Seth and Aaron felt that something was missing. After the project was over, after the kids went home, what happened to the home owners? Did anyone check in on them? Follow up? Yes, their home is secure...but what about their hearts? Seth and Aaron thought they could recreate the same experience: create real mission work that allowed students and young people to serve, but do it in a way that allowed the community to keep pouring into the lives of the homeowners. So once the participants left, the REAL work started. By partnering with local churches in the community they work in, ONE:27 can teach churches how to connect, help, minster to, and love on people they may not have had the opportunity to otherwise.

The really cool part of the story is how Burning Bush Baptist teamed up with Project ONE:27. A few years ago, some church members from BBBC met Seth and Aaron on a different mission trip, and they became friends and stayed in touch. The next year, again, they were at the same mission trip site, and their friendship continued to grow. When Seth and Aaron called their BBBC friends two years ago, and invited them to their own mission trip, Project ONE:27, Burning Bush readily agreed. The first two project sites of ONE:27 were both in Florida, first in Carabelle, and then in Newberry, where Seth and Aaron are from. Burning Bush Baptist Church sent a group of participants to both of those sites to serve, and now it comes full circle...it is their turn to get to host Project ONE:27.
